M-Edge have been leading the way for the last few years, with their wide range of Kindle covers, cases and jackets.  It took them a little while to get up to speed when the reader’s size changed, but now they are offering a case to suit just about every Kindle owner.  So we thought we would bring you a round up of the best M-Edge Kindle 3 Covers available today.

Here then, in no particular order are our current favorites from M-Edge:  The M-Edge Leisure cover, M-Edge Go Jacket and M-Edge Platform jacket.  Each has a something a little different to offer, and all come with the knowledge that they are from a leading ebook accessories manufacturer and are compatible with the M-Edge e-Luminator booklight.

1. The M-Edge Leisure Kindle 3 Cover

m-edge kindle coversThis is the one for the more adventurer book fan.  It isn’t quite a waterproof case, but is probably as near as most of us need.  The back looks just like their Latitude cases, but the front is clear vinyl.  This is a perfect vacation on the beach style cover for your ebook reader.

The back is tough nylon canvas with a large pocket for any extras.  There is a foam cushioned bumper to hold the Kindle firmly in place, and the clear vinyl front is easy to view through, and flexible enough to allow decent access to the controls.  Inside is lined with gray fleece for total security.  When travelling you can always flip the reader over to gain even more protection for the all important display.

Personally I wouldn’t use this case every day.  But when sand, grit and moisture might be a concern it really is perfect.

2. M-Edge GO! Kindle 3 Jacket

m-edge kindle coversThis is one of those perfectly simple Kindle Jackets. M-Edge have moved away from the hinge system favored by many other manufacturers, and are instead sticking with a “four point mounting system” (corner straps to you and me).   This is a fine system – simple and easy to get your Kindle in and out of.  But I don’t believe for one moment it offers quite the same security as the hinge system.  Which you prefer probably depends a lot on how often you are likely to take the reader in or out of its jacket and how often you expect your ebook reader to get thrown about, or accidentally dropped.

We love that there are a huge range of cool colors to choose from, and that it is one of the lightest jackets around.  The inside is a good smooth gray micro-fiber which is great for protecting the display and the exterior is reasonably hard-wearing leather-like micro-fiber.

The only problem I can really foresee is that there is no way to close the jacket.  Again, not a problem for many, but if you store your Kindle inside a purse full of junk like I do, there is always the worry that some of that junk could end up getting between cover and screen.  If however, you are of a tidier disposition than myself and do not want a leather Kindle jacket check out the M-Edge Go range instead.  That is actually my only real complaint with this, they describe it as leather but then tell you it is microfiber which is not leather at all.  Why do so many covers need to hint at being something they are not!  I am more than happy with canvas, fabric and microfiber if makers are honest about it!

3. M-Edge Platform Kindle Cover

flip stand kindle cover from m-edgeThis is rather different and also the newest M-Edge cover in our list.  A full Kindle Jacket that is a flip-stand style cover.  Again you have the wide range of M-Edge colors to choose from, and their “four point mounting system”.  But the ability to flip the cover over and stand the Kindle up in its Platform cover will appeal to all those souls that enjoy reading at the breakfast table!

Like the Go! Jackets above these ones are a “leather-like” microfiber.  They do seem very durable and have a very pleasing feel I just wish they would not imply they are leather!

The secure strap to keep the cover closed is a great addition for messy souls like myself, and the fact that it is a light-weight flip stand Kindle cover gives it a massive advantage over so many other Kindle covers with integrated stands.  Simple, fun colours, good looking and easy to use the device whilst inside.  Very nearly perfect I would say.
